Not long ago, I heard someone describe a beef patty as a Jamaican hamburger. Mainly because of the popularity of patties as a snack food in Jamaica. However, I recently came across this video that features a man demonstrating how to stuff a beef patty with toppings… just like on a hamburger! Considering how popular patties have become around the world, it’s no surprise that people would put their own spin on it. However, some things are hard to improve upon. So sacred is the Jamaican beef patty to those who love it, the man in the video alters his voice and doesn’t show his face … very funny!
Call me a traditionalist or old-fashioned but, though I’m very impressed with the creativity of stuffing a patty, I personally still like the classic … simple, spicy and hot out the oven! There are some other filling ideas that I do recommend and will be adding to the site — callaloo, ackee, chicken and veggie all make great alternatives!
